Welcome to 2010 - January 10, 2010
This is hoping that everyone will have a joyful and hopeful entry into 2010!
I have been reflecting on the changes that 2009 have offered. Actually, I have been amazed at all the changes that have occurred in my life, significant but very meaningful changes that will continue to positively shape my life.
I am currently working with aging Veterans and absolutely love the work. The challenge and richness of interactions continue to "floor" me. I am privileged that those decades older than myself take the risk of putting their trust in me.
I just transitioned from working several months in hospice care. This experience allowed me to be with dying Veterans and their families in the last days of their life on earth. Many have asked, "this must be hard?" My response was not a definite yes or no. The words that come to my mind are: reflective, complex, privileged, joyful, deeply moving, and awareness of the integration between life and mortality. I am deeply grateful for the experiences and believe I made a difference to those who transitioned and their family.
My goal for 2010, is to live richer, to be even more mindful of life, and to engage even deeper into valued relationships. I hope that many of you will be able to find the same, if this is also a shared desire within you. I will start by becoming a father for the first time. While a bit overwhelmed with the thought, I am also met with great joy at the thought.
On the thought of joy...... I wish the deepest for you in 2010. Please stay in touch. Jeff
